House in Aberaeron
Conservation with
passive solar heating
|
The client had bought
a run-down terrace house overlooking Aberaeron's harbour. She wanted
something imaginative, but private. Tricks with space and light make
this little house seem twice the size. I turned it upside down, making
the whole first floor into a living room. I turned it back to front,
opening out the South facing back and making a solar conservatory to
collect the heat and send it upstairs to the living room.
"Trompe l'oeil" mirrors over the fireplace reflect both the
delightful front view of Aberaeron's harbour and back, through the conservatory
arch to the well-stocked garden.
